We run participatory music sessions and projects for older, isolated and vulnerable people in care and community settings across York. We also run a large programme of intergenerational events and activities, which bring together our beneficiaries with local schoolchildren and students. We provide free transport for anyone who needs it, and are supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.
We are running a skeleton schedule over the month of August. Instead of having a complete shutdown, we are running a weekly session every Tuesday at Tang Hall Community Centre @ 10.15-11.45am
Our usual sessions will resume in September using the schedule below:

… And that’s the end of this chapter!
Fiona, our project director, has officially passed on the baton to Abby & Charlotte!
Fiona founded the project single handedly in 2009 & after more than 13 years of running Musical Connections, she is stepping down from the day-to-day running of the project.
We celebrated with a ‘Bring & Sing’, including tonnes of food, our favourite songs from the year & of course, cake! We were even awarded with a certificate from York CVS, for our work during the pandemic.
Not only do we need to say a HUGE thank you to Fiona, for making Musical Connections possible, but also to each and every one of our beneficiaries, as without them, there wouldn’t be a project!
Although they are big boots to fill, Abby & Charlotte are so excited for their new challenge & to shape the future of Musical Connections!
